Christmas may be a month away, but Kiray Celis has already gifted her sibling Jhopay: a ticket to Blackpink’s “Born Pink” concert in the Philippines next year.
The actress got the ticket for her sibling, who is an avid fan of the K-pop girl group, through a friend who had extra tickets to the concert, as seen on Celis’ Facebook page yesterday, Nov. 25.
“Magkausap kami ng kaibigan ko last time tapos nabanggit niya na may extra ticket daw siya ng Blackpink concert. Sobrang dream ‘yun ng kapatid ko,” she said. “Narealize ko na March pala siya mangyayari, month ‘yun ng birthday ng kapatid ko. So naisip ko na magki-Christmas, birthday niya, why not? Regaluhan natin siya at surpresahin natin siya ng Blackpink na concert ticket.”
(I was talking to my friend last time, then they mentioned that they had an extra ticket to the Blackpink concert. That is my sibling’s dream. I realized that the concert is happening in March, that’s my sibling’s birth month. So I thought, it’s Christmas and Jhopay’s birthday, why not? Let’s gift Jhopay with a ticket to Blackpink’s concert.)
Celis then pretended that she had to give her sibling an envelope with a “letter,” which actually contained the concert ticket. Jhopay was moved to tears upon seeing Celis’ gift, and the actress explained that she got Jhopay a ticket to the VIP Soundcheck section, which is closest to the main stage.
Celis added that she wanted Jhopay to have the best experience at the concert, so she got the said ticket despite it costing P19,450.
“Alam mo, sabi niya sakin, kahit daw malayo. Kahit nasa pinakataas siya ng Philippine Arena. Sabi niya, ‘Okay lang basta marinig ko ‘yung boses nila,’” she told fans. “Hindi ako papayag na boses lang ‘yung marinig mo. Gusto ko makita mo rin sila. Hindi mo kailangan mag-zoom in ng video or picture.”
(You know, Jhopay told me she [wants to go even if her seat] is very far. Even if she had to be at the highest part of Philippine Arena. Jhopay said, “It’s okay as long as I hear [Blackpink’s] voices.” I will not allow for you to just hear their voices. I want you to see them. You do not need to zoom in your video or picture.)

Treating her family to grand gifts is not new to Celis as she would often express her love for them through these kinds of surprises. Last May, she gifted her mom with P57,000 for her 57th birthday and in July, the actress also gave her father P63,000 for his 63rd birthday.
Blackpink’s two-day “Born Pink” concert is part of their world tour, during which they will promote their latest album of the same name. The concert is set to happen at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan on March 25 and 26 next year. /ra
