MANILA, Philippines — More than 80 international beauties gathered in the Philippines once again, to signal the resumption of the physical staging of the Miss Earth pageant after two virtual editions.

To mark the significant development, organizer Carousel Productions threw a welcome dinner for the delegates, hosted by Versailles Palace in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, on Nov. 13.

The Miss Earth pageant conducted full virtual editions in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The counterpart national competition Miss Philippines Earth also went online.

Both pageants, organized by Carousel Productions, conducted hybrid competitions for their respective 2022 editions, where the initial stage had virtual events and the last rounds were held physically.

But if in the Miss Philippines Earth pageant only the Top 20 delegates moved to the face-to-face phase of the competition, the Miss Earth pageant gathered all of the delegates in the country to take part in activities to be held physically.

The 2022 Miss Earth coronation program will be staged at the Cove Manila Pool Club of Okada Manila in Parañaque City on Nov. 29.

The Miss Earth pageant was established in 2001 to serve as a platform for environmental awareness. Its winners, dubbed “Beauties for a Cause,” serve as ambassadors for environmental protection. EDV
