From a hand that moved to creepy panic room, Ara Mina recalls scary experience while shooting ‘Katok’
Actress Ara Mina recently shared how shooting a simple scene sent fright down her spine.
Mina recalled a scene in the movie “Katok” made her feel the creeps as it was replete with scary thoughts. She plays a caregiver of an old woman in the movie now streaming online.
“I’ve been doing horror films noon pa, from “Shake, Rattle & Roll”, but this is the first time na meron kaming isang eksena na parang may gumanoon na kamay (that there seems to be a hand that moved). Wala namang tao sa area na iyon kasi lahat ng mga staff nandito sa director’s booth (There were no people there because the staff were all at the director’s booth). So, ako lang ‘yung tao (So, I was the only one there),” Mina recalled during the live mediacon for the movie, October 28.
“One time, ‘yung frame bumagsak. Naka-steady lang naman siya,” she added. (One time, the frame fell. It was supposed to be on steady.)
Mina’s creepy episode did not stop there as there was another scene where it was necessary that she get inside a cabinet.

Cabinet ang hitsura niya pero kapag pumasok ka, ano pala iyon, stair pala iyon na pakisame, paakyat. Iyon ‘yung parang panic room noong old house na iyon,” she recalled. (It’s creepy because it’s an old house then there’s a cabinet. It’s like a panic room. It looks like a cabinet but once you get inside, there was a stairs going to the ceiling. That’s the panic room of the old house.)

“Halos minadali ko ‘yung eksena. Kahit hindi pa ako dapat lumabas, lumabas na ako,” she said. (I almost rushed the scene. Even though I didn’t need to leave yet, I rushed out of the room.) EDV
