Miss Grand International (MGI) organization has named Roberta Tamondong as its new 5th runner-up after Mauritius bet Yuvna Gookool resigned from being one of the titleholders.

MGI announced the appointment as they welcomed and greeted Tamondong through its Facebook and Instagram pages on Sunday, Oct. 30.

“Miss Grand International Organization would like to announce the appointment of Roberta Angela Tamondong, Miss Grand Philippines 2022 as the new 5th runner-up of Miss Grand International 2022,” it said. “She will be a part of the Top 10 and will continue her mission with the MGI team for a year.”

Tamondong shares the title with Cambodia’s Pich Votey Saravody, Colombia’s Priscila Londono, Spain’s Jirisley Jiminez and Puerto Rico’s Oxana Rivera. The said candidates were proclaimed 5th runners-up after they advanced to the Top 10 of the competition, but failed to enter the Top 5.

Tamondong also showed the announcement on her Instagram page, along with the congratulatory greetings she received from fans and friends.

“IT’S OFFICIAL!” she stated.

Tamondong finished her Miss Grand International journey as part of the Top 20. Isabella Menin of Brazil was hailed the titleholder at the coronation night held in Indonesia on Oct. 25.

Yuvna Gookool’s resignation

Gookool’s resignation was made public by the MGI organization last Oct. 28, stating that the beauty queen was “not able to sign the contract and complete the duty as 5th runners up.”

However, Gookool and the Miss Grand Mauritius organization refuted MGI’s statement and claimed that Gookool was given a resignation contract by the MGI organization, which she did not sign.

“The post being published [by Miss Grand International] is not correct. Miss Grand Mauritius was given this contract to sign yet we did not agree to it and did not sign anything,” Miss Grand Mauritius organization said in a post shared by Rinishta on her Instagram page.

“Our Queen [Yuvna Gookool] resigned personally due to not being aligned with [Miss Grand International] latest behavior with our organization and others. So we request [Miss Grand International] to stop publishing these fake news,” it added.

The MGI organization has yet to respond to these claims, as of this writing. EDV
