Aga Muhlach is at awe after he received a nomination at the Asian Television Awards for his role in the TV5 series “Suntok sa Buwan.”

The actor was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role, as per Asian Television Awards’ official website last Tuesday, Oct. 25. He is the only Filipino vying for the honor alongside fellow actors from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.

Muhlach admitted the nomination was unexpected as he expressed gratitude for it on his Instagram page yesterday, Oct. 26.

“Unbelievable! Only found out last night. Such wonderful news to be nominated for my first ever serye (series) with actors from all over Asia. No words, just gratitude,” he said. “…[This] was unexpected! But hey, I’ll take this one! Maraming salamat (Thank you very much)!”

“Nabigla lang po and [nakaka-excite] pa rin pala (I was just shocked and it is still exciting). First of firsts, still at this point in time. Thank you, Lord! You never fail to surprise me!” he added.

Meanwhile, Filipino artists who were nominated for other categories are Maine Mendoza, Catriona Gray, Julie Anne San Jose and Christian Bautista, among others.

“Suntok sa Buwan” follows the story of Jimmy Boy (Muhlach), a retired boxer with stage 3 cancer, which deeply affects his son Dos (Elijah Canlas) who is training to become a professional boxer as well.

Asian Television Awards is set to hold in-person events on Dec. 1 and 8, following two years of holding the show virtually. The awarding ceremony will be hosted by Asian personalities including Gray, Enchong Dee and Piolo Pascual.  /ra
