John Manalo is raising funds to help his friend and former “Goin’ Bulilit” writer Sherwin Buenvenida, who has lung cancer and is currently needing financial support.

Manalo announced that he will be raffling off his classic bike and vintage cameras for the show writer’s medical expenses, as per the actor’s Instagram page last Monday, Oct. 10. The former child star also spoke about his relationship with Buenvenida who he described as a fighter and a “great pillar in the comedy industry.”

“Precious lahat ng ito para sa akin pero wala lang ito kumpara sa lahat ng nabigay na tulong sa akin ni kuya Sherwin at nabigay niyang tulong sa mga tao,” he said. “Kaya please tulungan niyo ako mag-work ito para matulungan natin si Sherwin at patuloy pa siyang makatulong sa kapwa niya.”

He then gave an account of Buenvenida’s health condition and how its effects have been devastating to his friends and loved ones.

“Sherwin has been diagnosed with pulmonary adenocarcinoma or lung cancer. He is currently undergoing a series of tests to further diagnose the extent of the harmful modules that may have affected his other organs,” Manalo stated. “And just recently, his heart was found to have water and this isn’t good news for everyone.”

“With this, we humbly seek some financial help so he can proceed with all these tests and hopefully to start the journey to healing. We hope that we can somehow ease the financial burden for them,” he added.

Manalo is aiming to raise P50,000 which would all be donated to Buenvenida. The raffle has 100 slots which cost P500 each. EDV
