Ryza Cenon expressed relief after problems with her water bill amounting to P120,000, despite experiencing service interruptions, have been resolved.
The actress showed her new bill notice now amounting to P2,116.12 as she explained how the issue was resolved, via her Instagram page yesterday, Sept. 22.
Cenon said that Maynilad Water Services Inc. went to her family’s home to replace their water meter and advised them to have their pipes checked as well.
“So pinacheck namin, may leak po sa likod ng house pero maliit lang. Pero s’yempre nag question ako, bakit 120k umabot? Impossible po na aabot ng ganun kalaki sa isang buwan kahit may leak,” she said.
(So we had it checked, there was a leak at the back of the house, but it was just small. Of course my question was, “Why did it reach [P120,000]?” It is impossible for it to reach that amount even if there was a leak.)
Cenon then had the old water meter tested by the service provider’s zone head, and it turned out to be worn out.
“[Sabi] niya na pag gan’on daw po ang situation, automatic na daw po na they will instead charge us an amount equivalent ng average ng bill namin for the last 6 months. Kaya 2k+ na lang babayaran namin. Thank you po sa mga nag-assist sa amin sa Maynilad,” she added.
(The head said that if that is the situation, we will automatically be charged an amount equivalent to our average consumption for the last six months. So we will pay only [P2,000+]. Thank you to those from Maynilad who assisted us.)
Cenon first showed the sudden increase in her water bill last week and received immediate response from the water company.
Given that Cenon’s concern has now been resolved, some consumers expressed frustrations and lamented the difficulties they encountered in processing their complaints over sudden increases in their water bills. Meanwhile, others claimed that Cenon appeared to have received special treatment given that she is a celebrity. /ra
