‘Hakot Day! for Father’s day!’: JC Cares celebrates Father’s Day with 10 toktok riders

MANILA, Philippines — Fathers have traditionally been the pillar of the home and a dependable source of support. They are known to be the protector and providers of the family. Their love never falters, even if it means working all day so they can provide a meal on their family’s plate.
But, of course, despite their never-ending love and support, fathers are human beings capable of getting worn out. So in commemoration of all Dad’s unwavering love and support, JC Cares launched Hakot Day! For Father’s Day!: a 2-minute unlimited grocery run for the 10 poging riders across Metro Manila.

Each selected poging rider can haul grocery items within two minutes. Before the time starts, the JC Cares’ representatives will accompany each contestant wherever they can go around to pick selected grocery items.
Excluding appliances, alcoholic beverages, and gadgets, the 10 riders can haul canned goods, frozen items, rice, noodles, condiments, chips, fruits and vegetables, and bread, as well as safety and hygiene packages with items like shampoo, dishwashing liquid, and detergent soap.

The mechanics:
1. Grocery items picked up from the shelf must be placed appropriately within the cart and must not fall to the floor. Every object that falls to the ground must be picked up and placed in the cart.
2. Any broken, damaged, or deformed item resulting from the pickup procedure will be regarded as good as sold.
3. When the cart is filled, they must return it to the main drop-off location before doing the second cart. Only carts delivered to the main drop off-site before the two-minute time limit expires will be tallied.
4. Each participant has a maximum of 2 minutes to complete.
Hakot Day! For Father’s Day! was a month-long process to select over 30 entries that ended on June 10, 2022. The 10 lucky fathers are Jeffrey Legaspi, Jeruniel Calipes, Kriston Cedron, John Emilson Rioveros, Pedrito Bernardo, Nikko Jay Aguilar, Jonathan Gumabay, Arsendes Comon, Adie Aniano, and Christian Beraya.

They have different reasons for joining the event, but all other reasons boil down to their love for their family and desire to provide.
Jonathan So and Carlito Macadangdang, young business tycoons and owners of phenomenal brands such as toktok, JC Premiere, and Siomai King, launched JC Cares to help those in need.
JC Cares Foundation is a charity organization founded to help those in need. Their tagline #KeepHelping aspires to improve the lives of others. The foundation’s initiative is to offer the beginning of a happy life to others.
