Warner Bros. has dropped the first look of Ryan Gosling as the boyfriend of Margot Robbie’s titular role in the upcoming live-action film “Barbie,” and it drew various reactions from netizens.

The Canadian actor turned into Ken sporting a blonde hair, tanned skin and a light-wash denim ensemble, as seen on Warner Bros. Pictures’ Twitter page today, June 16. Gosling also flaunted his toned abs as well as his “Ken” underwear.

Gosling’s first look teaser seems to have divided Twitter netizens who have varying takes over the actor being chosen to play the character. Some have approved and admired the look while some pointed out that Gosling is “too old” for the role.

Ryan Gosling as Ken in the new [‘Barbie’] movie could seriously run me over in Barbie’s pink jeep and I would say thank you,” one @JulianaElainee said.

“First picture of Ryan Gosling as Ken — I think he looks pretty cool but not like Ken so much,” one @rocam54 commented.

“I feel if we’re gonna do this, an actor in his mid-20s would be better suited than a man in his *40s*,” one @Mantia stated.

“God, Ryan Gosling as Ken in the ‘Barbie’ movie is one of the worst castings I’ve seen in my life like seriously he’s 1) way too old 2) not ‘conventionally handsome’ in the way that plastic b*tch should be,” one @THEPIXIES said.

“The sneak peek of Ryan Gosling as Ken…… I just won’t say anything if I have nothing nice to say,” one @hernameishalo wrote.

Aside from Robbie, whose first look teaser was released last April, Gosling will be starring in the film alongside Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Will Ferrell, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey, America Ferrera and Hari Nef. The film, directed by Greta Gerwig, will premiere on July 21, 2023. JB
