Coco Martin remembered Susan Roces, who was his Lola Flora in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” as he marked the seventh year since they started the long-running TV series.
The actor showed snaps of himself and Roces during the taping of the action-drama TV series, via his Instagram page last Sunday, May 29. The photos appear to be scenes from when Martin’s character Cardo Dalisay was just training to become a police officer.
“Eksaktong [pitong] taon na nakakaraan nung unang araw natin sinimulan ang proyektong ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.’ [Pitong] taon mula nung ipinagkaloob ang buong tiwala na gawin namin ang naiwan ni FPJ,” he said, referring to Roces’ late husband, the “King of Philippine Movies” Fernando Poe Jr. “[Pitong] taon ng magagandang alaala at di malilimutang mga aral pero higit [pitong] taon pa naming dadalhin ang lahat ng natutunan namin mula sayo La..”
(Exactly seven years have passed since the day we started “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.” It has been seven years since you entrusted us with the legacy of FPJ. It has been seven years filled with good memories and unforgettable lessons, but we will carry with us the learnings we got from you for more than seven years, grandma.)
Martin also reiterated his vow to keep her memories with him, which the actor enumerated in his eulogy during the wake for the veteran actress.
“Habambuhay ka namin ilalagay sa puso namin,” he added. “Maraming maraming salamat po, maging masaya at malaya ka na po kasama ang ating Panginoon.”
(You will forever be in our hearts. Thank you so much. Be happy and free in the company of our Lord.)
Roces, dubbed as the “Queen of Philippine Movies,” passed away on May 20 due to cardiopulmonary arrest. She was laid to rest last Thursday, May 26, at the Manila North Cemetery beside Fernando Poe Jr.’s tomb.
