Andrea Brillantes spoke about how she has become unbothered by bashing, explaining that she is already used to it after years in the showbiz industry.
Brillantes opened up on what she feels towards her bashers after talent manager-comedian Ogie Diaz asked her how she handles them, as seen on Diaz’s YouTube channel today, May 17. Diaz noted that the actress is always a subject of controversy, to which Brillantes agreed.
“Hindi naman po sa manhid. It’s just that hindi lang po naaapektuhan sa kanila. Lalo na parang more than 10 years na ako sa industriya kaya sanay na sanay na po ako,” she said. “Nasasaktan pa rin naman ako pero at this time, hindi talaga po nakakaapekto sa akin.”
(It is not that I am numb. It’s just that I am not affected by [bashers] anymore. I have been in the industry for more than 10 years so I am already very used to it. It still hurts, but at this time, it really does not affect me.)
Brillantes disclosed that she has been minimizing her exposure on social media, especially on Twitter, to avoid seeing comments that would frustrate her.
“Hindi lang ako nag-oopen masyado sa Twitter, hindi dahil sa naaapektuhan ako whenever I open it — it’s just for the sake of my peace of mind,” she stated. “Mas masaya na wala akong iniisip.”
(I rarely check my Twitter account, not because I get affected whenever I open it — it’s just for the sake of my peace of mind. I feel happier when I do not think about anything.)
The actress also spoke of how she had been stressing about the recent University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) basketball competition, instead of the hate she has been receiving. Brillantes then expressed her joy over the win of the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, where his boyfriend, basketball player Ricci Rivero, is a part of.
“Masaya ako kahit hindi ako taga-UP. Parang ramdam na ramdam ko ‘yung pagka-panalo dahil almost four decades since nung last panalo nila,” she added. “At masaya ko para sa boyfriend ko kasi before pa naging kami, sinasabi niya talaga na gusto niya lang is mag-champion.”
(I am happy though I am not from UP. I really felt their victory because it has been almost four decades since they last won. And I am happy for my boyfriend because even before we got together, he has been saying that all he wants is to be a champion.)
Brillantes earlier hit headlines after rumors that she got dropped from a salon’s celebrity list made rounds on social media. The said rumor was then dismissed by her talent agency. Her agency also warned fans of the fake tweets allegedly posted by Brillantes. JB
