Rabiya Mateo reminisces on her Miss Universe moments one year after pageant
Rabiya Mateo looked back at her experiences with Miss Universe, one year since she represented the Philippines in the global pageant.
The actress and Miss Universe Philippines 2020 titleholder recalled her pageant journey while showing moments of herself at the Miss Universe competition, via her Instagram page today, May 17.
Mateo can be seen in her Philippine flag-inspired national costume, in her yellow two-piece bikini for the swimsuit competition, as well as a series of candid selfies and glam shots throughout the pageant.
“Rabiya Mateo, Philippines!” Mateo said. “Random photos and videos from my [Miss Universe] journey that happened exactly one year ago. Forever grateful to all the people who rallied behind me. Love lots!”

Mateo received greetings from her boyfriend, actor Jeric Gonzales, Binibining Pilipinas International 2021 Hannah Arnold and Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi.
“Always proud of you. I love you,” Gonzales told her while Arnold and Cortesi sent her heart eyes emoji.
Mateo was one of the 74 contestants who vied for the Miss Universe crown on May 17, 2021. She made it to the pageant’s top 21, but failed to enter its top 10. Andrea Meza of Mexico was crowned Miss Universe for that edition.
Meanwhile, Mateo recently starred as Agent Asha Raj in the GMA series “Agimat ng Agila.” She appeared in the now-concluded show alongside co-stars Bong Revilla, Sanya Lopez and Gardo Versoza, among others. JB
