Mike Enriquez gave the winning candidates in the 2022 national elections a reminder that the public will keep an eye on them, drawing positive reactions from netizens on Twitter.
The veteran broadcaster addressed the leading candidates in the elections in his closing remark in the GMA news segment “Balitanghali Express,” as seen on its YouTube channel yesterday, May 10.
“Mga Kapuso, binantayan po natin ang kampanya, ang botohan, ang bilangan, ngayon hindi pa tapos. Babantayan po natin ‘yung mga nanalo,” Enriquez said. “Kayong mga nanalo, tandaan ninyo, magbabantay kami.”
(Fellow Kapuso, we kept watch on the campaign, voting and counting but it does not end there. We will keep an eye on the winners. To those of you who won, keep this in mind, we will keep an eye on you.)
Enriquez’s message was commended by netizens as it made rounds on social media, particularly Twitter, with one @ngllymndzlc saying that the broadcaster represented his mood.

“MY FULL RESPECT FOR MR. Enriquez’s fellow anchors Mel Tiangco and Jessica Soho also drew attention from netizens on social media. In the same segment, Soho said the line “walang kinikilingan” (impartial), after which Tiangco was supposed to say, “Walang kasinungalingan” (truthful) but instead proceeded to the phrase “walang pinoprotektahan” (not protecting anyone), leading some netizens to speculate that the gesture was intentional.
As of 6:17 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, the partial and unofficial results from Comelec’s transparency server showed Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos leading the presidential race with 31,035,780 votes as against the second-strongest contender Vice President Leni Robredo’s 14,789,892. /ra
