MIRIAM Quiambao

Miriam Quiambao threw her head back and laughed cheerfully when asked what her dream role was. Then she quipped, “Sa TV o sa totoong buhay?”

The 1999 Miss Universe first runner-up, former TV host and now, actress, couldn’t name a particular character, and said she’d be grateful for any good offers on TV and in the movies. (She talked with Inquirer Entertainment at the recent press launch for the TV5 fantasy series, “Bangis.”)

But when the conversation turned to her real-life wishes, Miriam didn’t even blink as she said, “I want to become a mother and raise my own kids.”

Miriam, 36, said she had always been fascinated by motherhood. She said it’s one of the noblest roles a woman could play. “You let go of everything you have, just to make your child happy. It’s such a selfless role.”

But is she ready for a new relationship, after marriage with her Italian ex-husband Claudio Rondinelli fell apart just a few of years ago?

“Sana, kasi feeling ko handa na ako!” she stressed. She’s been getting to know a few guys, she added, “but I need to take things slowly. I have to find the right one.”

Fittingly, Miriam plays Josie, mother of main child protagonist Eboy (BJ Go) in “Bangis.”

She welcomed the role, both as a challenge and a preparation of sorts —for when she gets to have her own child.
