Mariel Rodriguez got real on how she feels over comments on her body, admitting that it actually hurts her to receive such.

Rodriguez spoke about how she is affected by those comments in an exclusive interview with talent manager and comedian Ogie Diaz, as seen on his YouTube channel yesterday, April 4. She added that she is not yet in the “phase” where she strives to lose weight.

“Syempre may pakialam ako kasi tao ako, masakit, kaya lang hindi ko naman sila masisisi dahil totoo,” she said. “Siguro ‘yung drive wala because before alam kong babalik ako sa showbiz kaya kailangan magpa-payat ako talaga agad, e right now nasa bahay lang naman ako at akala ng mga anak ko kutson ako.”

(Of course I care because I’m human. It hurts but I can’t blame [critics] because it’s true. Maybe I have no drive [to lose weight] now because unlike before — when I know I’ll be returning to show business and I need to lose weight – I’m only staying at home and my kids think that I’m a mattress.)

Rodriguez then shared how she opted to maintain her figure because her daughters Isabella and Gabriela find comfort in her body when they cuddle.

“‘Pag lumaki sila ‘di ba mami-miss ko ‘yun. Mandidiri na sila sakin, ikakahiya na nila ako, mae-embarrass sila so ine-enjoy ko talaga ‘yung times na gano’n,” Rodriguez stated.

(When they grow, I will miss those things, right? They will be disgusted and ashamed of me, they will be embarrassed of me so I really try to enjoy these times.)

Rodriguez also talked about how she sometimes addresses bashing on her weight while citing a comment which she regards as the most annoying so far.

“‘Yung pinaka-nakakainis is ‘yung ‘Papalitan ka ni Robin kasi mataba ka,’ parang gano’n, to that effect. But you know what, Robin has never complained,” she added, referring to her husband, former action star and senatorial candidate Robin Padilla. “Nasha-shock na lang siya na I can eat so much kasi kaya ko.”

(The most annoying [comment] is when they say, “Robin will replace you because you’re fat,” something like that. But you know what, Robin has never complained. He’s just shocked at times at how I am able to eat so much because I can.)
