Alden Richards’ talent agency Sparkle GMA Artist Center will be taking legal steps over a supposed fake “unclothed” photo of the actor circulating online.
The agency released an official statement regarding the photo via Instagram yesterday, April 4. As per reports, the said photo allegedly shows Richards taking a mirror selfie with no clothes on.
“We wish to inform the public that the said photo is fake and digitally altered using a picture that Mr. Richards posted on his social media accounts months ago,” it read.
Sparkle then denounced those aiming to attack the actor by throwing fake issues against him.
“Mr. Richards is a role model for many people and we strongly condemn perpetrators of malicious activities related to our artists, including the spreading of groundless information and defamation,” the agency said.
It then stated that legal action will be taken against those involved in spreading the fake photo, as well as those who are giving out “libelous comments.”
“GMA strongly denounces criminal use of social media,” it added. “We all need to guard against fake news, so we urge the public to think before they click.”
Richards has yet to comment on the matter, as of writing, but he appears to have acknowledged the agency’s statement by liking it.
Meanwhile, Richards is set to star in the Philippine adaptation of the hit South Korean drama series “Start-Up” along with Bea Alonzo. The said project will be Richard and Alonzo’s first series together. JB
