Cherry Pie Picache and her son Nio Tria had a unique mother-and-son bonding moment by getting themselves inked with each other’s birth date moon phase.
Picache narrated how Tria asked for her permission repeatedly and was able to convince her when he told her what tattoo he was planning to get, as seen in a vlog on Picache’s YouTube channel yesterday, March 26.
“Nauso kasi ‘yung mga phases of the moon kung kailan ka pinanganak. Pinapakita ‘yun online or sa NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) then sinearch ko ‘yung moon phase kung kailan pinanganak si mama,” Tria explained. “‘Yung moon phase na ‘yun, ‘yun ‘yung image na kinuha ko kasi ‘yun ‘yung parati naming sinasabi, ‘I love you to the moon and back.'”
(There was a trend about the moon phase on the day you were born. It can be seen online or on the website of NASA then I researched the moon phase the day my mom was born. I also decided to get that image tattooed on me because that’s also what we always say to each other, “I love you to the moon and back.”)
Picache, for her part, talked about how getting inked is one of the items in her bucket list, which she got to finally tick off after getting the tattoo, which was preceded by thorough research. She also admitted that she initially had a misconception that she won’t be able to donate blood after getting a tattoo, but learned that she still can one year after the procedure.
“Sabi ko mag-52 na ako this May so might as well sabayan ko na siya. Tapos sabi niya, ‘Ano namang ipapa-tattoo mo?’ Sabi ko ‘Sige, ‘yung moon naman when you were born,'” she stated.
(I told myself that I’ll be turning 52 this May so I might as well get inked along with Nio. He then asked me, “What tattoo are you getting?” I told him, “I’ll have the moon phase when you were born.”)
Picache then advised those who are also planning to do the same to ask their parents first and respect whatever their decision is.
“Different strokes for different folks. May kanya-kanya kayong rules sa bahay niyo, may kanya-kanyang pagdi-disiplina ang mga magulang niyo so respetuhan. Maybe not now, maybe in time and if you show them na responsible ka naman sa mga desisyon na gagawin niyo katulad ng pagta-tattoo then ayon, maybe eventually,” she added. “We have to understand, we have to acknowledge and respect ‘yung mga magulang natin kung ano man ‘yung rules nila sa bahay natin.”
(Different strokes for different folks. We have different sets of rules in our homes, different ways of disciplining our children, so there must be respect. Maybe not now, maybe in time and if you show [your parents] that you’re responsible about your decisions, just like in getting a tattoo, then maybe eventually [they’ll let you.] We have to understand, we have to acknowledge and respect our parents and whatever rules they have at home.)
Nio is Picache’s son with her former partner Gary Tria. She is now in a relationship with her fellow actor Edu Manzano, who her son approves of. JB
