Zoren, BB may do a ‘teleserye’
It was heart-warming to see Zoren Legaspi and BB Gandanghari rib each other like long lost friends in the TV5 studio last Saturday. All the awkwardness between them was gone.
Zoren even asked BB for her shoe size so he could ask Carmina to make special shoes for BB from her footwear line (Muñiz). BB in turn asked Zoren if he had brothers who could be paired with her.
Kudos to both for having an open heart and an open mind to wipe the slate clean and let peace reign. They are living proof that even the impossible becomes possible in show biz.
If plans don’t miscarry, Zoren and BB are slated to do a soap for TV5. Would Carmina do a cameo for added attraction? We suggest the title, “Una Kang Naging Akin.”
BB has admitted that she had a secret romance with a popular heartthrob when she was still Rustom Padilla. We cornered her and asked: “As BB, would you fall for that hunk again or for Zoren?”

The fab daughter of Inquirer columnist Ramon Tulfo, Cathy, shared with me this funny anecdote: “When my sisters and our husbands went out to dinner with Dad last week, the waiter thought it was his birthday ’cause we were teasing him, ‘Happy Bugbog Day!’ So, before we knew it, the waiters were bringing in a cake and singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to my Dad! He just played along.”
It’s good to know that amid the NAIA brouhaha, the Tulfos have not lost their sense of humor. At the rate things are going (with a second incriminating—for the other side—video now out), they will surely have the last laugh.
The face of Asia on BBC
I was delighted to touch base with my friend from way back, broadcaster Rico Hizon, in Singapore. I visited him at the newsroom of BBC World News, where he is the only Filipino anchor.
“I’m the face of Asia,” he beamed. “I can’t go on vacation for a long time since I have to do the news daily. Unlike in the Philippines, konti lang ang staff namin, but it works for us. It’s better this way than having too many people in the newsroom who are not productive. Less office politics and zero intriga rito.”
Rico is flying home soon to receive the Broadcast Journalist of the Year Award from the Rotary Club of Manila. A well-deserved accolade.
But beneath his formal demeanor, Rico is updated on local show biz chika. (His current faves are Kim Chiu and Xian Lim). It’s his way of lightening up after a long, hard day at work, he said.
Cooking show with a twist
GMA News TV’s “Sarap To Heart,” hosted by Sam Oh and Chef Sau del Rosario, is a one-of-a-kind cooking show. In each episode, a celebrity searcher is asked to choose his/her preferred noncelebrity “searchee” based not on looks or intelligence, but on the searchee’s culinary creations. Single men and women (18-30 years old) may send their resume and recent photo to [email protected] to join.
The show airs at 10 a.m., 11:20 a.m. and 5:50 p.m. on weekdays; 11 a.m., 12:45 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturdays; and 9:20 a.m., 12:45 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. on Sundays.
