Angel Locsin’s dad, Angel Colmenares, recently turned 95 years old, and in a rare occasion of opening up, he answered some questions about his past and about his actress daughter – including one about her past boyfriends.

Colmenares treated her daughter to reminiscences of his childhood and career, as well as answers to some intimate questions about his health and thoughts on family, in a special interview with Locsin, for The Angel and Neil Channel in YouTube yesterday, March 5.

Colmenares also recounted a time in his youth when he stood up to school bullies who were connected to a governor.

“So alam ko na kung kanino nagmana yung iba sa mga anak mo,” Locsin said. (Now I know from whom some of your children took after.) Incidentally, Locsin herself is known for her philanthropic work and being outspoken on social issues.

They also touched on the subject of his sight, where Locsin revealed that for the longest time, they did not know their father was blind in one eye, because she felt shy to ask and since she knew how private her father is. They only came to know after he had to undergo a medical procedure.

The interview took a wacky turn when Locsin finally dared ask her dad: “Sino sa mga ex ko ang pinakaayaw mo?” (Who among my ex-boyfriends did you most dislike?)

Colmenares answered with a hearty laugh, saying, “Nakalimutan ko pangalan.” (I forgot the name.)

Locsin’s ex-boyfriends include fellow actors Luis Manzano, Oyo Sotto and the late Miko Sotto. She was also a girlfriend of former professional football player Phil Younghusband.

Earlier in the interview, Locsin also asked her dad about the incident in 2019, right before Father’s Day, when her husband, businessman Neil Arce, talked to her dad to tell him he wanted to marry her.

“Dad, may proposal ako,” Arce, who later joined the interview, told Colmenares back then. (Dad, I have a proposal.)

Laughter took over again when they recalled how Colmenares initially thought Arce was only presenting a business proposal, when it was in fact a marriage proposal for Locsin. Colmenares enthusiastically approved.

“First of all, I [wanted] you to be in good hands, and nasa age ka na (you’re already of age),” Colmenares told Locsin.

Locsin and Arce married in 2021 in a private civil ceremony. The couple got engaged in June 2019 and initially planned a November 2020 wedding which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple initiated and participated in various relief efforts during the pandemic.
