Kyline Alcantara and Mavy Legaspi’s seemingly deepening friendship have their fans wondering if there’s something romantic brewing between the two, whose chemistry seems to go beyond the work they do in their drama series.

While they have neither confirmed nor denied anything yet, the young Kapuso artists insisted that their relationship is “special” and not a promotional gimmick.

“I can describe our relationship now as simply our own; no one else can understand it right now but the two of us. We’re not just taping friends … it’s not just for publicity,” Kyline said in a recent video conference for the primetime soap “I Left My Heart in Sorsogon,” which airs its finale on Feb. 11.

A popular vlog post in which they go for a grocery run, in particular, is filled with comments, saying that they suit each other well.

“People around us know what we went through and only we understand what we have. But it’s really something special, and we just want to continue sharing that with our loved ones, viewers and fans,” Mavy said, adding that he knows that he and Kyline will continue strengthening their bond after the show ends.

“It’s not just publicity for the show … I hope our special bond translates [outside work], so the fans can be happy,” he said. “And I’m really excited about the network’s future plans for us. This is just the beginning for 2022; there are more in store for them.”

“We were already friends and were able to bond together, even before we did this series,” Kyline pointed out. “We have a strong foundation to start with. And like Mavy said, the network has a lot in store for us, both as individual artists and as a love team.”

Each other’s inspiration

While the two actors—whose tandem is dubbed “MavLine”—have previously worked together in variety programs like “Studio 7” and “All-Out Sundays,” “Sorsogon’” is their first acting project. And after seeing each other’s work ethic during their taping bubble, Kyline, who plays, Tiffany, and Mavy, who plays Basti, couldn’t help but admire each other’s creative process and work ethic.

“I hadn’t worked with Kyline on a teleserye until this one. And now I got to see her professionalism and work habits … I saw how serious she is in her craft and how professional she is on- and offscreen. And that really inspires you and something grows in your heart when you see that each day,” Mavy said. “Those things I got to experience and take a lot from.”

“I have seen her sing and dance. But once I got to see her act on the set, of course, I got even more impressed,” he added. “How I see her elevated, 100 percent.”

Aside from Mavy’s professionalism, Kyline says she’s thankful for her partner’s “patience.” “I have discovered many new things about him on- and offscreen. But iba talaga ‘yung patience niya sa ‘kin because I can be complicated,” she said, laughing. “And Mavy always took care of me.”

Kyline doesn’t always go into detail about her relationships with her previous coactors. Not with Mavy. “I’m confident Mavy won’t do anything to hurt me. That’s why I’m more vocal these days. He’s really special and I’m really proud of him … and how strong our friendship is.” INQ
