‘Smile, you’re on candid camera!’

Publicists and managers should require actors—and newcomers, especially—to take tutorials on how to conduct themselves in a public forum.

In a recent virtual press conference for an eagerly anticipated TV show, everything was going smoothly … until it was time to wrap up the Q&A proceedings.

The project that pairs Dazzling Actress (DA) with Exciting Newbie (EN) is generating some excitement from fans and press because of its pool of promising cast members. But as people were saying their goodbyes, EN seemed to forget that he was still in front of his computer and began expressing exasperation over someone nearby.

Looking distracted and flustered, EN turned to his left and quipped, “Can you stop that? I’m already stressed out here.” Hearing what just happened, DA could only snicker and shrug off the incident. She must have wanted to say to EN, “Smile! You’re on candid camera!” Oops.
