The 70th Miss World coronation has been rescheduled to March 2022, following 17 contestants and personnel testing positive for COVID-19 last week.

The organizers of the event said that they are excited to welcome the pageant finalists in Puerto Rico again on March 16, 2022, as per the pageant’s official Facebook page today, Dec. 22. It will still be held at the Puerto Rico Coliseum Jose Miguel Agrelot and be broadcasted live all over the globe.

“The countdown and final planning has begun. Our team is thrilled that we will show all the wonders that Puerto Rico has to offer as a premier tourism destination to the entire world. We love Puerto Rico,” said Miss World president Julia Morley also today.

The event was supposed to be held last Dec. 17, but the pageant was forced to cancel it, citing health and safety reasons for their staff.

Despite the postponement of the pageant’s activities, the Miss World organizers still assure their audiences that no pre-recorded content will go to waste. They shared that everything they have taped with the contestants will still be used during the finale as the videos display the rich culture and beauty of the Isle of Enchantment.

Miss World Philippines Tracy Maureen Perez hopes to win the crown for the country for a second time, following Miss World 2013 Megan Young. She was picked by global pageant observers as a frontrunner in the competition earlier this month. JB
