SB19 climbed its way to number one in the Billboard Hot Trending Songs chart with their song “Bazinga,” overtaking “Butter” by global K-pop sensation BTS.

BTS held the top position for the chart’s entire existence before losing it to SB19, who were on the 8th spot, this week, Billboard reported yesterday, Dec. 7. The Hot Trending Songs chart, which tracks globally trending songs on Twitter, was only founded this year.

“Bazinga” garnered 1.5 million Twitter mentions from Nov. 26 to Dec. 2, the report said. Billboard attributed this spike to SB19’s performance during the Philippine Association of the Record Industry’s 34th Awit Awards, where the band won People’s Voice Favorite Song for their track “Hanggang sa Huli.” The group was nominated for three other categories, including Best Performance by a Group Recording Artists.

The P-pop group thanked their fans on their Twitter page, also yesterday, by quoting a line from their new Billboard chart-topper “Bazinga.”

“I’M FIRE / I LINGER YEAH. Wow! Thank you A’TIN for bringing us to the Top Spot on the @billboard #HotTrendingSongs!” the group said.

SB19 released the music video for “Bazinga” last October and it has garnered over 2,500,000 views, as of writing. Recently, the band announced a concert series called “OUR ZONE: REPLAY” to mark their third anniversary. It will be held online via KTX on Dec. 11, 12, 25 and 26. JB
