Janella Salvador has introduced fans to her new pet, and it matches her role as the snake-haired supervillain Valentina in the upcoming “Mars Ravelo’s Darna: The TV Series.”
The actress gave fans a glimpse of her pet snake Versace on her Instagram page yesterday, Dec. 5. Salvador can be seen playing with the five-month-old reptile as it slithered down her bare arms.
“Hello, world. Meet Versace, my [five-month-old] baby girl,” she said.
Salvador was announced to portray Valentina during a casting event for ABS-CBN last month. The character is Filipino superhero Darna’s nemesis from the original comic books. Darna will be played by Jane de Leon.
Series director Chito Roño revealed that Salvador impressed him when she auditioned to play Valentina, so he believes she “would do justice” to the role. He also teased that the upcoming Darna series will be “modernizing” the supervillain.
Aside from Salvador and de Leon, previously announced cast members include Iza Calzado, Joshua Garcia and Zaijian Jaranilla, among others.
“Mars Ravelo’s Darna: The TV Series” started taping on Nov. 15. A premiere date for the show has not yet been announced, as of this writing. JB
