How Saweetie handled wardrobe ‘accident’

Hip-hop’s scorching-hot new sweetheart Saweetie may look like she’s perpetually ready and always rarin’ to strike a pose.

But the 28-year-old Filipino American rapper, who just bested fellow Fil-Am Olivia Rodrigo in the Best New category at the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) on Nov. 14, said in a recent roundtable interview that Inquirer Entertainment took part in that wardrobe malfunctions and similar “accidents” do happen.

Yes, anything can happen during a live show, as her fellow rappers Nicki Minaj (at the Made in America Festival in 2018) and Cardi B (at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival this year) would tell you. Thank goodness Saweetie’s experience wasn’t as, uh, “scandalous.”

“Oh, my gosh. I remember, my outfit didn’t arrive on time,” she said, laughing. “But the show must go on. So, I had to perform at the IHeartRadio Music Festival [last September] in my airport clothes, and I had fuzzy slides on. It was definitely a memorable moment (laughs)!” INQ
