Actress and philanthropist Angel Locsin reacts to netizens’ observation that there are more show biz celebrities running for public office this coming elections compared to the previous years.

“I am not here to judge them because these people really do have the capabilities to help the Filipino people. We should not pull each other down because we are from the same industry,” she begins. “As it is, people think so little of us because we are actors.”

‘Different kind’

“If these people believe that they can truly help other Filipinos, then go ahead. If I would personally vote for them, I don’t know yet,” the actress says. “Maybe they agreed to run because they received offers. It’s also a possibility that people approached them with a promise not to worry about campaign expenses, that this will be taken care of. I also think other politicians invited show biz celebs to run because they need known personalities in their political parties.”

Angel further adds: “I personally don’t see myself being a politician. We all have strengths, and this isn’t one of mine. I don’t know how to create laws and policies. I’m used to taking action, but of a different kind.”
