The grand coronation night for Miss Universe Philippines 2021 will not be pushing through on Sept. 25 as the pageant organization works on “enhancing” its safety protocols.

Miss Universe Philippines Organization announced the postponement along with a new schedule of pre-pageant events on its official Facebook page yesterday, Sept. 19.

“Mounting a safe pageant for all our stakeholders is our number one priority today. This is why we enhanced, even more, all of our safety protocols given our current situation,” the organization stated.

Miss Universe Philippines’ national costume competition will take place on Sept. 23, preliminary interviews will be held on Sept. 24, and the preliminary swimsuit and evening gown competition will happen on Sept. 26. The date of the coronation ceremony is yet to be announced.

The organization assured that the pageant finals will be “just a few days away.” The final date for the pageant will be announced once approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

Miss Universe Philippines Organization started with an initial list of 100 delegates. The candidates went through a series of challenges to determine who will move further into the competition.

The organization announced its Final 30 last Sept. 2. However, two delegates have since withdrawn from the beauty pageant due to health reasons. Zambales’ Joanna Rabe bowed out last week due to dengue while Davao City’s Ybonne Ortega announced yesterday that she tested positive for COVID-19.

Current titleholder Rabiya Mateo will be passing on her crown to one of the candidates who made it to the competition’s final roster. The winner will be competing in the global Miss Universe tilt in Israel this December. JB
