Resolution praising John Arcilla for Venice Film Festival win filed at Senate
MANILA, Philippines — Senator Lito Lapid on Monday filed a resolution seeking to commend actor John Arcilla for winning the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the 78th Venice International Film Festival.
In filing Senate Resolution No. 903, Lapid recognized Arcilla as “living proof of the world-class talent, skill, and passion of the Filipino, which brings inspiration to aspiring artists and creative individuals in the country.”
“Marapat lamang na kilalanin natin ang natamong tagumpay ni John Arcilla bilang pagsunod na rin sa sinasabi ng ating Saligang Batas na dapat pahalagahan ang sining at kultura sa ating bansa tungo sa pagpapalakas ng ating pagmamahal sa bayan,” Lapid said in a statement.

Arcilla is said to be the first Southeast Asian actor to win the prestigious Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the said film festival.
He was recognized for his portrayal of Sisoy Salas, a journalist seeking redemption in the Erik Matti-helmed political crime thriller “On the Job: The Missing 8.” The film is a follow-up to the 2013 film “On the Job” which starred Joel Torre and Gerald Anderson.
