Karla Estrada ‘proudest momshie’ as Daniel Padilla receives praise for new film: ‘Naiyak ako’
Karla Estrada could not help but be overjoyed for her son, actor Daniel Padilla, after the latter was praised for his performance in his latest film, “Kun Maupay Man It Panahon.”
One viewer had a favorable review of the film and specifically highlighted Padilla’s performance as impressive, Estrada shared on Instagram earlier today, Aug. 13.
“[Just] no words… this film is such a visual treat. The main actor [Padilla] definitely knows how to take control of a scene, he outshines everything in each frame. I would like to watch more from him in the future,” the reviewer said in the screenshot posted by Estrada.
“Isa sa mga kumento na nag paantig ng aking pusong nanay…[crying emoji] yes naiyak ako…[over acting kasi] ako bilang isang ina.” (One of the comments that touched my heart as a mother. Yes, I cried… I am being extra effusive as a mother.)

Estrada also revealed that the film, which is set in the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda, is very personal for her.
Article continues after this advertisement“[Napakasakit] sa pamilya namin at [ng] ilang mga kababayan ko na namatayan ng dahil sa tragedy na ito. Tubong [Tacloban] ako at purong [Waray],” she emphasized. (This is really painful for my family and for my countrymen who lost loved ones because of the tragedy. I grew up in Tacloban and am pure Waray.)
“Kaya ramdam ko ang comments ng mga nakapanood na,” Estrada added. (That is why I can really feel the comments of those who have watched it.)
The film, with the international title “Whether the Weather is Fine,” recently represented the Philippines in the prestigious Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland and the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada.
“Whether the Weather is Fine,” directed by Carlo Francisco Manatad, tells the story of Miguel (Padilla) and his mother Norma (Charo Santos) struggling to survive amid the destruction brought by the typhoon. /ra
