Miss World Philippines 2018 Katarina Rodriguez has revealed that she is expecting her first child with partner Niño Barbers.
“I’m so excited to finally share the big announcement that I have, this secret that I’ve been keeping for the past seven months, eight months. And that secret is I’m pregnant,” Rodriguez said in a YouTube vlog last Monday, Aug. 9.
The 29-year-old beauty queen also shared with fans glimpses of her journey as a mom-to-be, including clips of her taking a pregnancy test and showing off her baby bump.
“I’m actually really nervous because I haven’t had my period in almost nine months, so I think I’m pregnant,” Rodriguez joked just before taking a pregnancy test.
After it turned out unsurprisingly positive, Rodriguez broke the news to Barbers, who just laughed it off and played along, saying “Really? Congrats babe!” as he held Rodriguez’s baby bump.
Aside from holding the Miss World Philippines 2018 crown, the Siargao-based Rodriguez is currently an ambassadress for Save the Children Philippines. During her stint in the pageant, she advocated the rebuilding of Marawi through her “Project Become,” which aims to send back the kids to school, among others. /ra
