Erwan Heussaff admitted that he is getting tired of “knee-jerk opinions” on brands of COVID-19 jabs and urged the public to get vaccinated no matter the brand.
The restaurateur-vlogger reminded the public not to be “choosy” when it comes to vaccines after he received his second Sinovac COVID-19 shot, as shown on his Instagram page yesterday, July 22. He also showed photos of him waiting in line at a vaccination site in Makati City.
“Finally fully vaccinated with my [second] dose of Sinovac today,” Heussaff said, while pointing out that he would have been labeled as “showing off” if he got a jab from a different vaccine brand.
Although Heussaff ordered Moderna shots months ago, he has not received the shipment yet, so he signed up for vaccination with the Makati local government under the A4 category.
“The way I see it, anyone getting vaccinated at this point, regardless of the brand, is privileged. So don’t be choosy. If you can get it, do it,” he stressed.
Heussaff then questioned why some people have been acting like “vaccine experts” on various social media platforms.
“I’m so tired of knee-jerk opinions on Viber groups, Twitter and Facebook. At the end of the day, Sinovac is still an effective COVID-19 vaccine — whether it’s 50% or 95%, it’s still something,” he said.
Heussaff also pointed out to fans that while reinfection after vaccination is possible, vaccines can still protect people from the virus. He reminded them to still observe health protocols after getting vaccinated and to listen to doctors.
“Stop trying to be the smartest person in the room and listen to people who know what they are talking about,” he said.
Heussaff also pointed out that vaccines are given by the government to the public “for free,” which is something that “doesn’t happen often.”
Heussaff’s admonition received praise from fellow celebrities including Angel Locsin, Karen Davila, Georgina Wilson and Jasmine Curtis-Smith, among others. /ra
