Taylor Swift will not be entering “Fearless (Taylor’s Version),” the 2021 re-recording of her 2008 release, for consideration for the upcoming Grammy and Country Music Association Awards.
“After careful consideration, Taylor Swift will not be submitting ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’ in any category at this year’s upcoming Grammy and CMA Awards,” a representative of recording label Republic Records told Billboard yesterday, July 20.
The label explained that the singer’s ninth studio album “Evermore” will be submitted for the Grammys in all eligible categories. Given this, Swift’s decision to leave out “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” will give room for voters to “focus on ‘Evermore'” instead of splitting votes between the two projects.
Republic Records also pointed out that the original 2008 album earned four Grammys, an album of the year award from both award-giving bodies and remains the “most awarded country album of all time.”
The Recording Academy, which holds the annual Grammy and CMA Awards, declined to provide comment on the matter.
Swift received her first Grammy for Album of the Year with “Fearless” in 2010. She then won the award again for “1989” in 2016 and “Folklore” last March, making her the first woman to take home the Grammy’s Album of the Year award three times.
The singer is set to release the re-recording of her 2012 album “Red” on Nov. 19. It will feature 30 songs that were supposed to be included in the original version. Dana Cruz/JB
