Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray erupted in tears while at the airport as she had an emotional farewell to her parents who are based in Australia.

“What saying goodbye looks like,” Gray said as she showed a photo of herself tearing up while wearing a face mask, through her Instagram page on Friday, June 25.

“When I said goodbye to my parents at the airport, underneath my mask I kept smiling. Although [I] trembled. I didn’t want them to see,” she recalled.

The beauty queen added that while she told her parents that she will see them “soon,” the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic made her doubtful about when she will spend time with them again.

“[This] pandemic makes a once easy thing such an uncertainty…when?…how? When will we be together again?” she asked.

Gray said she was unsure whether she should talk to her fans about the exchange she had with her parents, but opted to discuss it because the moment was “raw and real.”

“I’m so grateful for the time I had with my family. And now it’s back to counting down the days, the sunrises, the sleeps until we’re together again,” she stated. Gray then addressed her fans and told them to make the most out of their time spent with loved ones because many “wish to have that reality [every day].”

Gray flew to Australia last month after what she described as “countless” rescheduled flights, canceled trips, swab tests and applications. As part of health protocols, she spent 15 days under a mandatory hotel quarantine before she was allowed to visit her parents. JB
