Carmina Villaroel not the jealous type

WHILE many couples need to be in each other’s company 24/7, actress-TV host Carmina Villaroel believes otherwise.

As far as she and partner, Zoren Legaspi are concerned, not crowding the other makes for a stronger relationship.

Carmina explained during a pocket interview at the GMA Network Center recently: “Aside from love and respect, it’s important to give your partner space. Even if we’re in a relationship, we make sure he can do his own thing, and I can do mine. Hindi kami katulad ng iba na kailangan together, forever magkasama, na kahit mga hobbies kailangan parehas.”

She said she trusts Zoren completely. “Hindi ako selosa. You’ll never hear me ask, ‘Saan ka pupunta? Sino kasama mo? Anong oras ka uuwi?’”

God-fearing

Being a God-fearing couple, infidelity is never an issue for them she said – and they’ve been together for more than a decade.

She couldn’t imagine Zoren doing any hanky-panky, she said, since his time is almost equally divided between work, playing tennis and staying in the house. “Ang lagi niyang kasama mga kapatid niya, o mga anak namin,” she said. “So paano naman gagawa ng kalokohan ’yun?”

When she’s not “playing” with wild animals, siphoning wastes, or taking over other people’s challenging day jobs for her reality program, “Day Off,” Carmina would rather just stay at home and bond with her 10-year-old twins, Mavy and Cassy.

Feeling young

“Makasama ko lang ’yung kambal ko, okey na ’ko. We watch TV, play board games, go to the mall, and watch movies together. Minsan nakakasama ko rin sila kapag nag-e-exercise ako. We encourage each other [to get fit],” the 35-year-old mother related.

Carmina added that her twins help her feel young, especially Cassy whom she plays dolls with. Bonding with the girl once, Carmina related, she received one of the best compliments ever when Cassy told her, “You’re not like a mommy… parang you’re only 18 years old!”

Cassy is a lot like her, said Carmina: “She’s very talkative, like me. She loves asking about my show biz beginnings … Seeing my old TV commercials and first movie, Cassy exclaimed: ‘Mommy, you’re so cute! I look like you!’”
