Bea Alonzo paid tribute to her house helpers and some frontline workers on Labor Day by giving money and playing games with them.
“In these trying times, I can’t help but thank those who go the extra mile to keep us all safe. To our frontliners, delivery drivers, and especially the angels in our household who ensure our safety and health, thank you,” the actress said on a YouTube vlog on Saturday, May 1.
Alonzo and her staff played indoor games, dubbed “Labor Games,” wherein the actress gave P20,000 to the winners and P10,000 as consolation prize.
“Gusto kong i-celebrate ang aking mga kasambahay (I want to celebrate my house helpers) for making it convenient for me to stay at home even though they are far from their families,” she explained.
The actress also ordered food to celebrate the occasion and surprised the food delivery rider with P15,000.
“I can’t wait to see his facial expression and his reaction when he finally finds out kung ano ‘yung magkakaroon siya today (what he will be having today,)” she said.
She also set up a table with chips, biscuits and drinks for other delivery riders who pass by her home.
Lastly, Alonzo talked to a health worker named Cathy who often visited her on tapings. They delved into the risks that health workers face amid the pandemic.
“High risk talaga ‘yung ginagawa niyo kahit sabihing dialysis center kayo,” she told Cathy. “Grabe ‘yung sacrifices niyo kaya thank you.” (Your work is really high risk even if it is in a simple dialysis center. You make a lot of sacrifices, so thank you.)
She then told Cathy that she will be giving her P20,000 as a gift for Labor Day, adding that her fan deserves to spend for herself. Alonzo also stated that she wanted to give the money to Cathy in order to “honor and celebrate” her work as a frontline worker. JB
