LISTEN: KZ Tandingan calls for unity in ‘Gabay,’ Disney’s first song in Filipino
Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan’s “Gabay,” the first-ever Disney song in the Filipino language, has finally been released on Spotify.
The song from the new Disney animated film “Raya and the Last Dragon” came out at 12 midnight today, March 5, on the said music streaming platform.
To celebrate the release of “Gabay,” Tandingan listened to the song for the first time along with fans by hosting a listening party via Instagram Live.
“May lakas na galing sa tubig, at sa puso mo’y mahika / Bibigyang dangal ang pamana, ‘pag liwanag ang ‘yong dala / Magkaisa nang tumibay, at ‘di mahihiwalay / Tatatag, ‘wag lamang matakot na subukan,” Tandingan sings in “Gabay,” in which she calls for unity and trust, among others.
In “Raya and the Last Dragon,” Disney features its first-ever Southeast Asian heroine, Raya, who is voiced by Vietnamese-American actress Kelly Marie Tran.

Awkwafina (“Crazy Rich Asians”) voices the dragon Sisu. The said film is available on streaming service Disney+ starting today and in other foreign theaters this March, although a specific release date for Philippine cinemas has yet to be announced. /ra
