For Valentine’s Day, Dingdong Dantes moonlit as a delivery rider for his own service DingDong. After completing six deliveries, he reflected on the average rider’s day of work.
“I started at 9:30 [a.m.] and ended before 3 [p.m.], and as [I] sit here at home waiting for early dinner, I realize how difficult this job is,” he wrote on Instagram yesterday, Valentine’s Day.
“There are so many factors to consider: heat, dehydration, heavy traffic, wrong addresses — which can cause panic and delays, customer’s temperament, plus the danger of getting into accidents especially if you have not been properly trained,” he noted.
He lauded all delivery riders for the service they provide each day.
“And today, mas lalo pang tumindi ang paghanga at respeto ko sa inyong lahat,” he said. (And today, my admiration and respect for you all has grown even more.)
“That’s why [I] will never get tired of my mission of professionalizing this industry, especially for those who want to be successful in this field.”
The actor put up his own delivery app to help create job opportunities in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic last year. Among those employed were employees retrenched from ABS-CBN, after Congress refused to renew the network’s franchise. JB
