HBO Max, Warner Bros. eyeing ‘Harry Potter’ TV series—report
Almost two decades since the first film hit the cinemas, “Harry Potter” is expected to move to the small screen as a series is reportedly being planned.
The “Harry Potter” television series, which will also be live-action like its movie counterparts, is expected to air via HBO Max, an exclusive source told the Hollywood Reporter yesterday, Jan. 25.
Executives at HBO Max and Warner Bros. have already engaged in meetings and are looking for writers and pitch for the series, according to the unidentified source.
No deal has been made and there is currently no “Harry Potter” series in development, however, HBO Max and Warner Bros. clarified to the magazine.
Still, the idea of a series is not too far-fetched as the Wizarding World remains very much alive today, despite the controversies surrounding “Harry Potter” creator J.K. Rowling and the LGBTQ community.
For one, the spin-off “Fantastic Beasts” film series is still ongoing as a third film is expected to come out in 2022, while the video game “Hogwarts Legacy” is on the way to current and next-generation consoles and gaming platforms.
