TV5 asks CA to stop 20-day suspension order vs ‘T3’
MANILA, Philippines — TV 5 has asked the Court of Appeals to stop the enforcement of a 20-day suspension order by the Movie Television Classification and Review Board against one of its programs.
In a radio interview Friday, lawyers of TV5 said the MTRCB “doesn’t have jurisdiction over ‘T3′” because it has been classified as a “news and public affairs program”.
They said that under the Constitution, the order constitutes a violation of press freedom.
“T3” is hosted by Erwin, Raffy and Ben Tulfo. The brothers on Monday used the program to threaten celebrity couple Raymart Santiago and Claudine Barretto after they figured in a brawl with eldest brother, Philippine Daily Inquirer columnist and radio host Mon Tulfo at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Sunday.
Tulfo and the Santiagos have since filed charges against each other.
