Certified dog lover Heart Evangelista proved recently that she would do anything to make sure her canine friends are safe, even if it means running in high heels.
The actress and fashion maven recounted on Twitter the ordeal she experienced when her dog Che Che went running out of the car and onto the road filled with vehicles.
“Nakakakloka hinabol namin si Che Che sa daan! Muntik ako Lumusot ako sa truck (Crazy how we chased after Che Che on the road! I almost went through a truck)!” Evangelista tweeted yesterday, Jan. 13, along with a photo of her dog safe and sound in the car.

A more detailed account is on her dog Panda’s Instagram page, recalling the chaos that ensued on Ortigas Avenue corner Santolan. Panda too was in the car with Che Che, as seen in the photo where Evangelista held Che Che on her lap.
Apparently, when the car door opened, Che Che ran out into the street and went under a truck.
“Kawawa si mum kakakulot lang ng hair super high heels hinabol ka parang action star!! Pinigil ang truck sa harap at mga car mahabol ka [lang]!” read the account.
(Poor mom ran after you like an action star even if she just had her hair curled and was in super high heels! She stopped the truck in front of the car just to get you!)
The actress expressed gratitude to a stranger who assisted in recovering Che Che. “To the man who opened his car door to stop [Che Che] thank YOU!” she said on Twitter.
“Sana wala naka video dahil mukha akong tanga — [nakakulot] at high heels making pigil the trucks and cars and running after [Che Che]. What an afternoon,” she quipped.
(I hope no one got it on video because I looked foolish—hair curled and in high heels stopping the trucks and cars and running after [Che Che]. What an afternoon.)
Among those who helped get Che Che back were Evangelista’s sister—who was also in heels—her guards, driver, hairstylist and friends.
In the endl, Evangelista was relieved. “What a scene. [Thank] you [Lord] ok lahat (everything’s OK).”
Evangelista is an animal-welfare advocate and promotes adopting rescued dogs, especially aspins (asong Pinoy or mixed breed dogs). /ra
