Stylist Liz Uy is pregnant with her second child.

Uy made the revelation in the newspaper column “My Turn” on Dec. 20, nearly two months after she announced her engagement to entrepreneur Raymond Racaza.

According to Uy, she found out about her pregnancy during the fourth month of lockdown.

“I ran to Raymond and we were both screaming in delight,” she wrote in the column. “In the midst of a pandemic, we found this piece of good news filling up what was otherwise a glass half full of uncertainty in 2020.”

She shared her bout with hyperemesis gravidarum, which she also experienced when she was pregnant with her firstborn Xavi. Xavi turned three last Sept. 20.

Hyperemesis gravidarum is a rare disorder that is characterized by severe and persistent nausea during pregnancy, so much so that it can result in weight loss, dehydration and vitamin and mineral deficiency, as per the National Organization for Rare Disorders.

She was also concerned about giving birth during the COVID-19 pandemic and the safety of her baby and family. She thus made it a point to educate herself on COVID-19 and pregnancy, which she said was an important step to putting her fears to rest and keeping themselves safe.

She added pregnancy has taught her “to embrace and share my life’s simple joys as well as struggles,” as she expressed her gratefulness for family and friends, as well as “husband” Raymond who “makes motherhood an even greater journey.”

“There is love, and there is unconditional love that I share with Raymond and Xavi, and soon enough, with our second child,” she said. “If motherhood this time around is even a fraction of how it has been with Xavi, then I am without doubt, most blessed.” Cody Cepeda/NVG
