Nikki Valdez is slowly but surely recovering after getting surgery for a wrist injury.
The actress revealed that she underwent surgery last week and marked milestones in her post-operation recovery yesterday, Dec. 12 via Instagram.
Fellow actress Jodi Sta. Maria asked in the comments section about what had happened to her, to which Valdez replied, “Fractured wrist from a freak accident at home.”
Valdez has been documenting her recovery on social media, noting that by day three, she was able to do her own makeup with just one hand.
“Never thought I could do it but so happy I was able to!!!” she exclaimed.
After one week, she has been able to do more functions, like taking a shower unassisted and opening bottles and caps with one hand. Meanwhile, her left hand is “slowly starting to get a good grip of light things” and she is able to exercise her fingers and arm.
Celebrating her small wins, she said, “Here’s a teeny weeny thumbs up sign saying that baby steps are still steps that add up to big and great results.”
Among those concerned for her is daughter Olivia, “the most worried and affected one after my accident.”
She recounted her daughter’s touching gestures to make sure she will feel better: “Laging nakaalalay (She is always attending to me), she sets up my corner in the living room so I can rest and makes sure to kiss my casted arm and says, ‘I love you my Mama.’” JB
