Sarah Geronimo wowed her fans with a soulful rendition of Harry Styles’ 2019 hit “Watermelon Sugar.”
The Pop Star Royalty performed the song for the TV noontime variety show “ASAP Natin ‘To” last Sunday, Dec. 6. However, Geronimo was not on set and instead performed it virtually, as seen on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube page on the same day.
The singer’s performance also seemed effortless as she grooved while singing the popular tune.
“Breathe me in / Breathe me out / I don’t know if I could ever go without,” Geronimo sang. “Watermelon sugar high / Watermelon sugar high.”
While Geronimo’s number seemed natural and easy, her husband, Matteo Guidicelli, explained that it’s only because she takes her craft seriously.
“She likes everything to be perfect, like her baking, you cannot talk to her when she’s working in the kitchen. It’s her time,” he told Toni Gonzaga in an interview. “She’s very perfect in measurements. When she records at home, you cannot enter the studio.”
He also noted how Geronimo strives to produce her recordings at home even without the help of a crew amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In one instance, Geronimo started recording before 10 p.m. and continued to perfect it even after 8 a.m. the next day.
“She was still there, smiling,” Guidicelli stated, “so happy to record.” /ra
