Charlie Brooker, creator of the critically acclaimed sci-fi anthology “Black Mirror,” is making a mockumentary about 2020.
The mockumentary on the current year, which has been described by netizens as akin to a “Black Mirror” episode, is being made in cooperation with Netflix, actor Hugh Grant disclosed to New York Magazine yesterday, Nov. 30.
Grant will be starring as a historian in the said mockumentary. He revealed that the project is underway in an interview about his recently-concluded HBO show, “The Undoing.”
While the streaming service has yet to release details, Grant noted that he will be a “repellent,” wig-wearing historian who is being interviewed about 2020.
Not far from the dystopian themes that “Black Mirror” explores, the current year has been bombarded with terrible matters and events that have reshaped the entire world — with the COVID-19 pandemic topping the list.
The sixth season of “Black Mirror” was put on hold by Brooker earlier this year over concerns that the audience may not have the “stomach” to digest stories about “societies falling apart” anymore, given the current global situation. Ian Biong/JB
