Daniel Padilla has been doing so well in his career that if he retires by the time he is 35 years old, he will still live comfortably for the rest of his life.
Padilla’s mother, Karla Estrada, disclosed in Vicki Belo’s vlog that her son can retire with enough money at such an early age that even his grandchildren will already be set for life.
“Mayroon naman siyang savings niya na. He’s good. At 35, he’s good. Kahit hindi na siya magtrabaho kahit hanggang apo niya. Nagtabi na tayo,” Estrada told Belo in the YouTube video posted on Nov. 26.
(He already has savings. He’s good. At 35, he’s good. Even if he does not work, he will have enough even for his grandchildren. We have already saved enough.)
When asked by Belo if Estrada gets commission from Padilla, she answered, “Wala naman. Ako lang nagha-handle ng pera niya.” (I do not. I just handle his funds.)
“Kasi kung anuman ang gastos namin ay para ‘yon sa lahat. So, importante ay may natabi sa kanya,” she added. (Because whatever we spend, it is for everyone. What is important is that he has saved for himself.)
When asked if Padilla ever asks for money from Estrada, the mother quipped, “Hindi iyon humihingi ng pera na cash… mag-alala ka na ‘pag nag-ano na ‘yun, ‘Ma.’ Iba-ibang tono ‘yan eh. Kapag ‘Hi, Ma!’ naku, patay tayo diyan. ‘Oh Ma may darating na sasakyan.’ Hindi siya humihingi. Pero kapag humingi siya, kumapit ka na sa pader.”
(He does not ask for money… but you better watch out when he goes “Ma.” It has different tones. When he goes “Hi, Ma” then we are doomed. “Oh Ma, a car is going to arrive.” He does not ask for money. But when he does, you better hold on to the wall.)
Estrada then stressed that she will be letting Padilla handle his own money so that he spends more wisely.
“Ngayon, ang gagawin ko, siya na ‘yung paghahawakin ko ng mga pera niya, para maramdaman niya ‘yung feeling na ‘pag nahawakan niya tapos babawasan niya ng ganito kalaki,” she said.
(Now, what I will do is I will let him take care of his own money. So he can feel what it is like when he sees his savings decrease when he spends a large amount of money.)
“‘Di niya kasi hawak. Kaya it’s easy for him na ‘Ma, bayaran mo ito’ o ‘Ma, may kukunin akong ganito,'” Estrada added. (It is because he does not handle the money. So, it is easy for him to go “Ma, pay for this” or “Ma, I am going to get something.”)
Padilla, the other half of the “KathNiel” tandem, remains one of the biggest stars of ABS-CBN, alongside reel and real life partner Kathryn Bernardo.
The young actor, who held his first-ever online concert last month, noted in a videoconference on Oct. 11 that he feels that he is “getting old” now.
“The responsibilities are mounting. The bills, which my mom usually handled, I take care of now. We’re in charge of everything now,” he disclosed.
On having a family in the future, Padilla revealed that he wants to get married before he hits 30, and plans to do so with a beach wedding. JB
