Celebrities and fellow musicians have been paying their tributes to Slapshock frontman Jamir Garcia, whose death was reported just earlier today, Nov. 26.
Garcia, 42, was found lifeless at his home in Quezon City by his aunt. He was rushed to the MetroNorth Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician at 10:20 a.m., police confirmed to INQUIRER.net.
Callalily frontman Kean Cipriano was among those who lamented the late musician’s death, posting on Twitter, “Napaka lungkot. Napaka bigat (This is too depressing. Too heavy). Rest in Peace Jamir.”
“You’ll forever be remembered. Salamat sa lahat kapatid (Thank you for everything, brother),” he added.

Actress-singer Glaiza de Castro, meanwhile, remembered the last time she watched Slapshock perform live as she paid tribute to the late frontman.
“Huli kong napanood ang Slapshock sa UP Fair netong February. Sobrang saya namin kasi tinugtog nila yung ‘Agent Orange.’ Yun na pala yung huli na maririnig kong kakantahin mo yun live. Salamat at rock in peace, Jamir,” she tweeted.
(The last time I watched Slapshock was at the UP Fair last February. We were so happy because they played “Agent Orange.” Turns out that it would be the last time you will be singing that live. Thank you and rock in peace, Jamir.)

Fellow rockstar Raymund Marasigan expressed his grief via Twitter while also reminding people that they should not share photos of Garcia’s body.
“[Have] some respect and decency [please don’t] repost and share the photos,” he stressed.

Maysh Baay of Moonstar88 likewise took to Twitter to appeal to the public to stop spreading Garcia’s photos.
“Please have some humanity and stop posting photos,” she said.
“[I’m] sorry this is just too much. We’re just a small scene here so one tragic news affects us all,” Baay stressed in an earlier tweet.
