“The Voice Kids” season one champion Lyca Gairanod is now officially part of the Viva Artists Agency, joining her former coach Sarah Geronimo.

Gairanod, who admitted that she was looking for a “new journey” before joining Viva, shared that she opted to become part of the agency because of her mentor.

“Naghahanap po ako talaga ng bagong journey. Si Ate Sarah po kasi, gusto ko rin siyang makasama. Tuwang-tuwa ako na maging part ng Viva,” she said in a virtual press conference yesterday, Nov. 25.

(I was really looking for a new journey. And I also want to be with Ate Sarah. I am so happy to be part of Viva.)

The young artist stressed that in her new journey, she will be striving to put out new types of music and not just stick to belting powerful ballads.

Gairanod also shared that she wants to further improve her career, not only as a singer but also as an actress and dancer, and help her family live a more comfortable life.

“Kaya kong gawin ang lahat para sa pamilya ko. Sobrang gusto ko po talagang makatulong sa pamilya. Sobrang sarap at sobrang saya. Nakaka-kain na po kami ng tatlong beses sa isang araw. Okay na ang buhay namin ngayon kaysa sa dati,” she said.

(I can do anything for my family. I really want to help my family. It feels so good and I am so happy. We can now eat three times a day. Our lives are much better now than before.)

Last August, Gairanod gave fans a glimpse of her former life by showing her old home in Tanza, Cavite, through a YouTube vlog. Her grandmother now occupies the humble shack, which the singer helps keep maintained.

“Thank you so much for the warm welcome, [heart emoji] @vivaartistsagency #newfamily #viva and to my boss [Veronique Corpus],” the 16-year-old singer posted on Instagram also yesterday.

Gairanod, known for nailing powerful OPM classics such as Aegis’ “Basang Basa sa Ulan,” won “The Voice Kids” back in 2014 when she was only 9 years old. She bested singers Darren Espanto and Juan Karlos Labajo, who also both now have their own successful music careers.  /ra
