Filipino celebrities were among those who celebrated with Americans as Joe Biden emerged the victor in the United States presidential election.
After one term, controversial president Donald Trump was voted out of office in a tight race as ballots were counted this week.

Some, like KC Concepcion, were in awe of America’s milestone in voting its first female, Black and Asian vice president, Kamala Harris.
“This win might just be the plot twist we’ve all been waiting for,” she said on Instagram.
“Goosebumps!” said “Cheats” singer and podcaster Saab Magalona as she shared a photo of Harris alongside the white male vice presidents before her.

Other entertainment personalities viewed the results as a chance for change in the next Philippine presidential election on 2022.
Actress Janine Gutierrez wrote on Twitter after Trump’s defeat: “[Can’t] wait for our turn to vote them out. #RegisterToVote.”

Musician Ebe Dancel and actress Jackie Forster were among those who celebrated a different kind of win: that of character.
“In the end, decency always wins. Kindness always wins. Compassion always wins. I am so inspired today,” Dancel said, who admitted he cried at Biden’s speech.
Forster shared a clip of CNN political commentator Van Jones who became emotional as he said, “character matters.”
“We can all breathe better today!” she wrote. “Let’s get back up and remember all the progress we made for humanity, to end racism and to have equal rights, equal opportunities and the heart to provide healthcare for all. Because it’s a human right and it is what [is] morally right.” JB
