Miss Manila wins the internet by keeping it real in Miss Universe Philippines
The search for Miss Universe Philippines 2020 may be over, but some candidates prove that winning is not just about the crown.
A few contestants have become instant viral sensations on social media, thanks to their relatable and authentic responses when it came to the preliminary interview.
Miss Manila Alexandra Abdon was a show stealer as she chatted with the panel candidly, and was honest about the fact that the cold of Baguio City did bother her.
“Pinapatay ko ang aircon kanina, wala palang aircon (I was asking for the aircon to be turned off but it turns out there is no aircon),” she quipped, as seen on a tweet by one @markgeronimo_, Oct. 23.

As she struggled to think of an answer at one point, she requested, “Pwede paki-pause iyong time (Can you pause the timer)?”, as per another post by Twitter user @AntoineRenz on the same day.

Runners-up to being internet queen are Miss Quezon Province Faye Deveza and Miss General Santos Mariel Joyce Pascua.
Deveza drew attention for the way she gave serious responses, after which she would quickly become informal.
“Tapos na ‘yon? Wait lang may sasabihin pa!” she said after being unable to finish her introduction, where she recalled a story about her grandfather.

Pascua, meanwhile, gained fans for saying she was the “life of the party” and told the panel, “If you have a party, you can always invite me.”

The queens have since been named the “top 3 we never had” — at least in the eyes of netizens.

Miss Manila, Miss Quezon Province and Miss General Santos are just some of the contestants who remind us that being beautiful is also about being unafraid to show your personality. Hopefully, this is not the last we see of these authentic queens. JB
