Oscar winner Jared Leto will be reprising his role as the legendary DC comic villain Joker in the much-awaited Zack Snyder cut of “Justice League.”

Leto, whose Joker in 2016’s “Suicide Squad” received mixed reaction, has joined in the shooting of additional scenes for the said director’s cut, as per The Hollywood Reporter on Oct. 21.

The magazine revealed that multiple sources disclosed Leto’s participation in the upcoming film, a surprise to fans as the Joker was not in the original “Justice League” film.

The revamped version of 2017’s “Justice League” will air in 2021 as a four-episode event under HBO Max, according to the report.

The original film, which had been heavily criticized among superhero fans and moviegoers, was initially directed by Snyder before Joss Whedon took over.

Snyder had to let go of the project back then due to his daughter’s death. Warner Bros. recruited Whedon to take over, reshooting and continuing production, leaving some of Snyder’s unfinished scenes to not make the final cut.

The upcoming project, officially titled “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” is expected to show the true vision of Snyder for the said superhero film, as the title suggests.

While the recently released trailer for the “Snyder Cut” shows several changes from the original film, such as the introduction of Darkseid and Superman’s black suit, Leto’s inclusion may imply that there is a lot more new content than previously thought. Ian Biong /ra
